The 5 most successful American entrepreneurs - Jobidea24

The United States is a melting pot of nationalities and cultures and has quickly become one of the most modern nations ever. With born-born citizens and immigrants, the United States is one of the most prosperous nations in entrepreneurship.

American entrepreneurs have reshaped how the world works, from legacy companies like Standard Oil, Ford Motor Company, and Carnegie Steel Company to contemporary companies like Meta (formerly Facebook) and Google. The following are the five most successful American business people by global influence.

1. Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie was an American businessman who originally emigrated from Scotland. Born into the lower class, Carnegie and his family emigrated to Pennsylvania, where they enjoyed a better lifestyle. Carnegie later founded the Carnegie Steel Company, making it one of the largest steel companies in American history.

Carnegie was also a successful angel investor in addition to his company's success. With the money he earned through his steel company, he invested in various car companies, courier services, and land containing oil reserves. At his death in 1919, Carnegie had an estimated net worth of $350 million, which, in 2021 dollars, would be about $5.5 billion.

2. Henry Ford

Born into a family from England and Ireland, he was prosperous though not wealthy. Ford was a working man and eventually completed an apprenticeship with the Detroit Dry Dock Company. In 1891 he met Thomas Edison and told him about his idea for an automobile. Edison liked the idea and let Ford design and build two prototypes in his warehouse.

Ford founded the Detroit Automobile Company based on the prototypes. However, the company was short-lived, as the product needed to meet Ford's standards. He founded the Cadillac Motor Car Company, which also failed, before starting the Ford Motor Company, for which he is best known. His third try at an automobile company made him very successful, and the company continues to be concerned with annual sales of more than $127.1 billion.

Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Larry Page are among history's most famous American business people.

3. Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is a shining example of American success. While she didn't reveal her past until 1986, Winfrey was sexually assaulted at age nine, and she became pregnant at 14 before losing the child in childbirth.

These early trials and tribulations gave him the perspective and confidence that helped him host his first television show in 1983. From there, Winfrey continued growing his brand and empire, founding Harpo Studios, a multimedia company, in 1988.

Winfrey co-founded OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) in 2008 with Discovery Communications, another media company that draws millions of viewers.

Winfrey, a television personality turned businesswoman, has a net worth of $2.6 billion as of December 5, 2021.

4. Bill Gates
Bill Gates, one of the most famous American tech entrepreneurs, is the fourth wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of more than $133 billion as of December 5, 2021.

Gates grew up in Seattle, Washington, and started messing around with personal computers at a young age with friends like Paul Allen. Showing great ability and promise, Gates enrolled at Harvard, where he met Steve Ballmer before starting Microsoft.

With the help of Allen, Ballmer, and others, Gates created Microsoft, which is now worth more than a trillion dollars based on its market capitalization. The company is among the world's largest and most influential technology companies.

In 2020, Gates stepped down from the Microsoft board to focus his efforts on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

5. Larry Page
Larry Page co-founded Google, the world's number-one search engine. Google Page and its co-founder Sergey Brin started when he was a Ph.D. student at Stanford University. With an initial investment of just $100,000, the two partners quickly built Google into a multinational conglomerate.

In 2015, Google was restructured as the parent company Alphabet Inc., with Page as CEO.

As of December 5, 2021, this page has a net worth of $126 billion.
